Steroids and exercising has become a huge topic over the past couple years. Whether is be doping in baseball, golf, even cycling.
You can think of a multiple athletes (Alex Rodriguez, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong) in each sport that have been accused of taking steroids or involved in other various acts of doping - the newest one called blood spinning. This is used to shorten the recovery time to heal an injury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood-spinning)
Though steroids can aid and benefit you, they can be extremely damaging and harmful to your body. But, society has placed such emphasis on body type that there is a lot of pressure placed on people to perform and look good.
Some side effects are, tumors, jaundice, fluid retention, and high blood pressure. Also, shrinking of the testicles, reduced sperm count, infertility, baldness, and the list goes on. I'll pass on all of those.
I was watching a documentary on HBO the other day and it was about a family of sons who were all on steroids or who have done steroids at some point in their lives.
One was a weight lifter, one wanted to be a professional wrestler, and one just took them to get noticed. And he did. He had his picture taken with Arnold Schwarzenegger at Muscle Beach in California.
It was pretty interesting. They talked about how most male models that you see on the cover of fitness magazines have all taken some sort of steroid. They even concocted and bottled their own steroid. It was that easy.
Here's a website on (anabolic) steroids: http://www.steroid.com/side.php
Nowadays you can purchase steroids online - pretty sickening that it's so easy to get.
To conclude this post all I can say is taking steroids is simply not worth it. As long as you know, inside, that you're fit and in shape, you don't need to take steroids to prove this to other. Prove it to yourself.
