Stay away from steroids
If you're an athlete, you've been told at some point in your life to stay away from steroids. But, some of us give in to the pressures of performing well and maintaining that performance for a long period of time. Or, wanting to recover from an injury quickly so we resort to HGH.
I can honestly say that I have never done steroids, but have friends who have done them and are currently on them. Some will even defend them. When asked about how they make you feel, one may reply with an "I feel great - just look at me." Not realizing the damage this person is causing to their body. Seeking the advice of a professional trainer is also welcomed. This will make it easier for you to establish a routine as well as having a person there to give you that extra push. Professional trainers have busy schedules so take advantage of your time with them.

You can think of a multiple athletes (Alex Rodriguez, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong) in each sport that have been accused of taking steroids or involved in other various acts of doping - the newest one called blood spinning. Though steroids can aid and benefit you, they can be extremely damaging and harmful to your body. But, society has placed such emphasis on body type that there is a lot of pressure placed on people to perform and look good.
Some side effects are, tumors, jaundice, fluid retention, and high blood pressure. Also, shrinking of the testicles, reduced sperm count, infertility, baldness, and the list goes on. I'll pass on all of those.
I was watching a documentary on HBO the other day and it was about a family of sons who were all on steroids or who have done steroids at some point in their lives.
One was a weight lifter, one wanted to be a professional wrestler, and one just took them to get noticed. And he did. He had his picture taken with Arnold Schwarzenegger at Muscle Beach in California.
It was pretty interesting. They talked about how most male models that you see on the cover of fitness magazines have all taken some sort of steroid. They even concocted and bottled their own steroid. It was that easy.

Is exercising a social problem?
Exercising has become a part of many people's every day lives. However, it can become obsessive, which can then become a social problem.
With technological advancements going to the gym has become easier and more addicting.
Being a 'gym-goer,' I usually go with a friend to make it less boring. Seeing fit people at the gym makes you want to go even more...and more. But, it can get to the point where it's not good for you. There is a term called compulsive exercising and it's definition is working out beyond the limits of safe. Compulsive exercisers will always find time to work out, even if it means cutting class, missing work, or getting less sleep.
Your body needs time to rest and recover so going to the gym every day might not necessarily be a good thing.
Another grey area in gym going is the use of steroids. This is definitely unhealthy, but you know there are people at the gym who use them. Some gyms go as far as putting up signs that state taking steroids is not good for your body and is not tolerated.
